This piece honors the feminine as both icon and ocean: composed in power, limitless in motion. A crowned presence of still authority faces the living tide—golden, fluid, ever becoming.
The scarf unfolds as a double register—two images forming one continuous field. One side holds a figure in stillness, composed and frontal, a moment of presence gathered and named. The other releases that presence into a fluid terrain of currents, symbols, and drifting forms, where memory and intuition move freely.
These images do not oppose each other, they follow one another. What is contained on one surface circulates on the other. When worn, one side meets the world while the other rests against the body, unseen but active.
This collectible is an expansion of Nigerian contemporary master Gbolahan Ayoola’s exploration of new media, including printmaking, animation, and digital art.
When displayed or adorned, the work reminds us that identity is never complete on a single surface.
