Myles Igwebuike is a distinguished graduate of the Royal College of Art London, is a visionary Nigerian-American designer, researcher and diplomat. Myles’s practice seamlessly integrates dynamism with craft, utilizing techniques of aesthetic disruption and adaptation across various mediums, including research, photography, design, sound, architecture, and diplomacy. This innovative artistic philosophy is encapsulated in his TED Talk, “Divergent Thinking as a Survival Strategy.”

 

Since 2018, Igwebuike's work has been driven by an insatiable curiosity and a quest for simplicity. His creative inspiration stems from the intricate, multidimensional, and sometimes paradoxical nature of the Kola Nut, paying homage to his southeastern Nigerian roots. Through his interdisciplinary approach, Myles positions himself as a cultural bridge and a custodian of heritage, exploring and preserving the rich narratives of his ancestry.

 

Myles Igwebuike is committed to the power of community and its pivotal role in the future of design. His mission is to forge a universal design language that transcends medium constraints, offering a revolutionary perspective on African design. By working across diverse disciplines, locations, and materials, he aims to create a fresh, inclusive vision for the global design community.

 

Beyond his design endeavors, Igwebuike is recognized as a World Economic Forum Global Shaper. He has contributed to the curatorial team for the Sharjah Architecture Triennial and is actively engaged in two public art projects in eastern Nigeria. Myles has also been selected to design the Nigerian Pavilion for the London Design Biennial 2025, underscoring his role as a leading voice in contemporary design.

 

Myles Igwebuike serves on the Design Council, the UK’s strategic national advisor for design, as a design expert and was named one of Architectural Digest’s AD100 Rising Stars to Watch in 2024. His critical thinking, research-driven practice, and commitment to cultural heritage position him as an esteemed and influential figure in the design world.
