Joseph Oluwasegun b. 1993, displayed a keen interest in visual art from a young age, often spending hours sketching and painting. His early inspiration came from the high cultural tapestry of Nigeria, particularly the traditional art form of the Yoruba people.
In 2018,he obtained a Higher National Diploma [HND] in painting from the Faculty of Art, Design and Printing at Yaba Colllege of technology. During and after this times in school and in the digital world, Joseph was exposed to a wide range of artistic styles and movement, inspiring him to experiment with diverse medium and shapes.
His practise evolved as a result of accepting that the world of art is a vast world. workshops, masterclasses and his service in a digital space rened his practise both traditionally and digitally. All of these led him to discovering his key signature “ SCARIFISM” technique subtle textured scratches and contoured shilouette. His works reect theme of identity, self -accenptance and social -issues blending surrealism with african aesthetics.
