Duke Asidere (b. 1961, Lagos, Nigeria) is one of Nigeria’s most significant contemporary painters. Trained at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and Auchi Polytechnic, he belongs to a generation of artists for whom technical seriousness is paramount. His practice is characterized by a fluent movement across media and a deeply structured approach to abstraction and figuration. Over forty years, he has developed a unique visual language that records the intersections of personal memory and social observation.
